Org chart template maker

Type your people and who they report to. The layout, spacing and connectors are worked out for you, and the chart downloads as native shapes — so unlike SmartArt you can restyle any box without fighting the tool that made it.

How to use it

  1. 01/03

    Add your people

A name and a title each, then pick who each person reports to. The top person needs no manager.

  2. 02/03

    Let it lay out

Column widths, row spacing and connector routing are computed so nothing overlaps.

  3. 03/03

    Download and adjust

Boxes and connectors are ordinary shapes. Recolour a department or move a box and the file behaves normally.

Good to know

Why not use SmartArt?

SmartArt handles the layout but resists styling — changing one box often re-flows the whole graphic. Plain shapes cost a moment more to produce and behave predictably afterwards.

How wide can a chart get?

About eight boxes across a 16:9 slide before the text becomes unreadable at the back of a room. Past that, split the chart across slides by department.

Will the connectors stay attached?

They are drawn as lines positioned against the boxes rather than glued to them, so moving a box far from its original spot means nudging the line too.
